block insertion point

(1/1)

Jerry:
When I insert a block, of a door, into a wall it snaps to the center of the wall. How do I change it to snap to the edge of a wall?
I tried to move it but it wants to move the wall that its connected to.

Thanks,
Jerry

Marek:
Hi Jerry
Click left mouse button on door, then right mouse button and from local menu choose and set parameter "Frame inset". ("Properties/Door Main"). Look at Snap2. Likewise, we can do for windows.

Jerry:
Thanks Marek,
This works fine in XT Pro but I'll be working in XT.

I copied a block of a door swing (in plan view) from my Autocad menu, into my XT drawing, then I give it a size but it snaps to the middle of the wall. When I click properties of that block I can't find a drop down to change the snap point. I may not be understanding the terminolgy

Does the XT version have the Architecture Menu? If it doesn't I won't have access to the door styles and will have to rely on blocks of doors and windows.

Marek:
Hi
If you have pasted block into drawing, you can edit it in such way:
-open blocks panel (Tool/Blocks)
-select your block and click EC (Edit content)
-select from menu Tools/Relocate Blocks/Space Reference point
- click "finish Edit Content".

When it comes to snapping, check your settings. Right-click on the "SNAP" and change the settings to suit you.
If it does not help you,  you can attach an example as *.2cd to better illustrate the problem

Jerry:
Thanks Marek,
That did it.
