AutoCad command alternatives
« on: January 23, 2012, 01:53:08 AM »
Hi,

I've just started using DoubleCad, and I'm trying to find out if it has an alternative for some AutoCad commands, I'd be greatful for any help.

The first is MEASURE. AutoCad, will add points to a line/arc by the distance specified, e.g. I have a line that measures 10 cm, and I wish to have a point added 6cm along this line I just tell it to MEASURE 6cm and it adds the point without breaking the original line.

The second is DIVIDE. I think I've kind of found out how to do this but need to make sure. The divide command will divide the object into equal sections as specified. e.g. DIVIDE the line into 4 sections.

Although both are rather simple commands, in AutoCAD I have the ability to do them whilst leaving the original line intact, and the points are just added on top of the line, so when I'm done with them I can delete them without affecting anything else.

If anyone has any thoughts or knows how to do this I'd be most greatful.

Thank you

thebrian

There is no equivelant of measure - while you can add a point(node) to a line via the edit tool it is not associated with a distance. You can replicate the Divide without adding permanent nodes by using the Divide By Snap setting.
