Repeat command not working
« on: September 19, 2011, 03:30:47 PM »
I've been using the free version for 6 months and when drawing a line, after finishing the first line and to draw a 2nd line I could always right click to open the drop down and click the repeat command for the next line.   Now the repeat command does not show up.   I have to go to the toolbar every time for every repeat command I want.
I have also lost the ability to enter the angle of a line in degrees in the box on the screen.   When I try it now, it creates a second line at an odd angle.
Did I turn something off by mistake?   This all happened at the same time and I cannot find any reference to using the right click for a repeat command, but it did work OK yesterday.
Thanks
Dave M.

Hi Dave.

I'll start with your second item. You may have dynamic input turned off. Go to Options/Toolbard and Menu/Dynamic Input. Select or make sure it is selected 'Show Dynamic Dimensions' in the radio box and also 'Show all dimension at a time' is also on. See attached.

To repeat a command, you can also hit the 'enter' key or the 'spacebar. Not too sure is happening at your end with repeat sorry.

Thanks for replying Steve, but that's not it.   Dynamic input is on just as you said.   The repeat command is really bugging me.   The 'spacebar' nor the 'enter' DO NOT work!   I can't even use the letter 'L' to get the line command up.

Dave, have you tried to reload DoubleCAD? I think there is an option to 'repair' as part of the reinstall. I will give it some more thought for you as I have not had any problem like this.

Hi

-you can try go to "Tools/LoadFrom/ then choose "def1024acstd" and "LoadFrom". Pay atttention that you lost all your UI settings and you will get standard Dcad settings.
-you can try also this - shut down Dcad and go to : C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\IMSIDesign\DoubleCAD\3\XT\Profiles
In Profiles find and delete  an entire folder  "Built in". After restarting Dcad folder "Built in" will be automatically rebuilt.

Thanks Steve.   Marek was on point; looks like I lost those attributes.
Although I do not have anything under Tools/ that says /Load From, so I had to go the round about route.   For some reason I don't have a C:\user\etc. file as shown by Marek but with some searching I did find the 'Built In' folder and deleted it.
That worked!   Dcad evidently did just as Marek said and rebuilt the file.   Seems to be back to normal now.
I have no idea what caused this and just hope I don't do whatever I did again.

Thanks Marek, saved me from having to download it again.

re: …I do not have anything under Tools/ that says /Load From…

I think Marek meant to say "Tools / Customize—›Options" page. That will have a "Load From" list from which to choose a different configuration or workspace. Once chosen, click on the "Load From" button to apply that workspace.

Dave, good you got going again. One thing I would do and I certainly do is when downloading is to keep a file on CD. Saves downloading again.

Hi Dave

I'm sorry this is a rush. John R is right. It should be Tools / Customize / Options / Load from. In this place there is also "save in". If you do your UI (for example, add some toolbars, change them, etc.) then you can highlight the "Save in", enter your name there and hit the "save in". This name will be visible after expanding the list in the "load from" and therefore you will  be able to set it . Settings def1024 (800) acstd are standard settings and should not be overwritten. Then you can always go back to them. These files are located in the folder "Config" (.... Documents / DoublaCAD XT Pro 3/Config). They may also find themselves depending on how the installation to be in another place. Best to use the file searching - that have the extension *. xcfg.

It just happened again!   I was working on a drawing last night, saved it as normal, went back to it today and this problem occurred again.   I did nothing from then to now that I can think of that caused this.   I'm reposting here because the info provided by Marek and others worked last time and also again this time.
I was able to find the 'Load From' box this time, and then opened my drawing and the features worked.   I'll see what happens when I go back in tomorrow.   I'm glad this forum saves these threads because I had forgot the fix but found it easily here.
If anyone else has this problem (losing UI settings) I'd like to know what causes this or if I'm doing something wrong.
Thanks folks.

I opened the drawing I was working on yesterday after I fixed the UI problem and it again had lost the fix.   I again reloaded from the 'Load From" option and it was OK.   I guess I need to delete the 'Built In' file like I did last time.   It lasted for six months that way.
