Problem with trim
« on: April 19, 2011, 09:40:55 AM »
When I select two cutting edges, then select the item to be trimmed instead of trimming the line I get the edit item command, complete with blue end points and yellow mid point on the line I'm trimming, then the line I'm trying to trim disappears and I have to recover it  by undo and start again.

Never had this before  ???

Very strange Bill. I assume you have stopped and restarted DoubleCAD, have you rebooted?
It may be a corrupted config INI. In that case you'll have to delete your Built in folder so DoubleCAD can rebuild it.

close DC
go to, in your user folder,
>AppData>Roaming>IMSIDesign>DoubleCAD>3>XT>Data>Profiles>Built-in
delete all the contents of that folder.

Brian,

Excellent, all seems solved, and programme seems to be running crisper and  faster too.

Wish I had all this computer knowledge  :-[

Is it a good idea to occasionally carry out this procedure?

Many Thanks.

Only as needed - if you find super weird stuff happening.

Good workaround, should be made a sticky for all new users who experience problems, alongside with a short explanation about what is affected by rebuilding the INI-file (too busy atm to test it myself, and with a few dozen times of rebuilding my custom user interface I donīt really dare to go there atm ;) )

Sorry to be a prophet of doom.

However after a day working perfectly its back.

What do you suggest, remove programme and re-install, prefer not to resort to that though.

All the best.

It possible you have a corrupt drawing file. So that when you load that file the interface is destablized. It could also be another application that is conflicting. Did the corruption occur in the middle of a workday or in the morning first go? If so it may be a app which runs overnight updates, or start automatically at a certain time etc.
Try the following:
blow away the built-in as before
the if all is working correctly save that config under a custom name.
If odd stuff begins happening again reload that custom config, and see if that repairs the issue.

Thanks for your time on this one Brian.

There's no pattern to it, it occurs randomly throughout the day. I'll try what you recommend and keep you updated.

Thanks

Hi All,

An update.

It seems as if  I may  have a corrupt drawing,as the problem does not exist on other drawings. I've completed the drawing now, so must remember not to use it as a template. ::)

Thanks for all the help (be struggling otherwise without all the assistance)

Bill  :)
