Dimension Extension Lines
« on: February 23, 2010, 05:41:24 PM »
Pleeese can we have a feature that allows dimension lines to be drawn at a fixed length and the offset distance is variable. This would cut down the time to dimension an architectural floor plan by at least half.

Also a very old topic, but I am forced to post to this, since there´s not been any answers to it yet.

I set up a grid of construction lines around my floorplan, and then use those nifty little automatic temp construction lines to guide my placement of the dimensioning lines. In addition I create a second set of clines that describes the length of my extension lines.
I just now noticed that you can create an offset for the extension lines, so that the actual measuring point and the start of the dimension extension line are apart.

But I wouldn´t mind having a "set length of dimension extension line"-setting, too ;)

Seasdes,

you´re welcome ;)

I´ve worked with DCad on a small project, and the dimensioning became a very, very tedious task, even after a while of getting used to it.

With a large chunk of the target group IMO being architects, those small improvements would keep a lot of people with DCad.

Just talked to the German support, very friendly people, but unfortunately the "localization" won´t include (as I had hoped) the 1,12³ i.e. third figure raised, which is really, really important for professionally looking floor plans. A real bummer :(

I know I am really pesky about this, but to me it seems like such an easy implementation which would go really a long way.

Does TurboCad have this feature?

No, TurboCAD cannot do that either.

Hey Brian,

thanks, a little disappointing, though, taking in account how long TurboCad has been around. But then again a relief and probably a chance for DCad ;)
